About National Cadet Corps

The National Cadet Corps is a youth development movement that has been shaping the future leaders of India since 1948. We nurture discipline, character, and a spirit of selfless service among the youth.

Our History

A journey of building character and leadership for over seven decades

1948

Foundation

The National Cadet Corps was established on 15th July 1948 under the NCC Act of 1948. It arose from the University Officers Training Corps (UOTC) which was established by the British in 1942.

1950

Girls Division

NCC opened its doors to girls, establishing the Girls Division to promote gender equality and empower young women through military-style training and discipline.

1952

Air Wing Formation

The Air Wing was established to provide aviation training and inspire cadets to join the Indian Air Force, adding a new dimension to NCC training.

1958

Naval Wing Established

The Naval Wing was created to train cadets in maritime activities and prepare them for careers in the Indian Navy, completing the tri-service structure.

Present

Modern NCC

Today, NCC has grown to be the world's largest uniformed youth organization with over 13 lakh cadets across schools, colleges, and universities in India.
